What information is processed and why?
Essential delivery and security: the hosting and network provider (Cloudflare) may process your IP address, browser or connection data, requested URL and timestamps to deliver and secure the website; the relevant legal basis is legitimate interests or technical necessity, as appropriate. Contact by email: when you contact us we process your email, message and related correspondence to reply to you and handle your request. Do not send sensitive personal information unnecessarily.
Optional site measurement
Only after you actively accept optional measurement does our current client-side code attempt to send the site identifier, chosen language, page path and referring site's origin to a same-site analytics endpoint. No full referring URL or query-string search terms are deliberately sent in this payload. We do not run this optional call when consent is refused. The analytics endpoint and infrastructure may technically receive connection information such as an IP address; do not assume complete anonymity. We do not use this consent for unrelated advertising scripts.
Cookies and browser storage
This version of the guide stores the optional-analytics choice in your browser's localStorage, not in an advertising cookie, so it can remember your selection. This browser storage is limited to this website's own origin. Language links do not require a persistent tracking cookie. The necessary site delivery systems may use technical mechanisms for security or reliability. External sites you visit may use their own cookies.
Your choices
Optional measurement is off unless you consent. Accepting and refusing are both available from the prompt. You can reconsider or withdraw your choice using Analytics settings in the footer or on this page. Service providers, retention and transfers
Our technical hosting uses Cloudflare, and external booking/affiliate sites operate independently when you follow their links. We retain correspondence only as necessary for handling requests and legal obligations. Consented page-view records in our D1 database are automatically deleted after 180 days, under a daily cleanup schedule. Technical hosting and security logs have their own provider retention policies, which must be reviewed before enabling additional processors or features. Cloudflare or other providers may involve international transfers under their applicable safeguards.
Your GDPR rights
Where applicable, you can ask for access, correction, deletion, restriction or portability of personal data, object to processing or withdraw consent. Write to info@ghentcompass.com. You can also file a complaint with the Belgian Data Protection Authority.
